8-The Gaffney Ledger, Monday, June 1, 1987 Jack Poole, 80, husband of Mildred Patrick Poole, of 317 Eighth Street, died Monday, June 1, 1987. A native of Cherokee County, he was a son of the late John and Mary Davison Poole, a retired textile employee, veteran and member of Temple Baptist Church. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Scruggs of Kings Mountain; one son, Don Poole of Pageland; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Benton of Gaffney; one brother, Robert Poole of Chester; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church conducted by Revs. Warren Fowler, Jeff Jones and J.M. Pickler with burial in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Terry Addis, Paul Gordon, James McAbee, Ben Bratton, Joe Wallace and Robert Childers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Hill and members of the Senior Men's Bible Class of Temple Baptist Church. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home. Body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Nancy G. Bolton Nancy Viola Gordon Bolton, Jack Poole 81, of 108 Second Street, widow of James E. Bert Bolton, died Sunday, May 31, 1987 at 8 p.m. at her residence. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was a retired textile employee and a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Edward Bolton of Gaffney; one brother, Vessie Gordon of Gaffney; one grandchild. Services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Revs. Stuart Kersey and Clarence Hampton with burial in State Line Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles, Danny and Eddie Lee Gorski, Steve and Terry Gordon and Billy Birchfield.

Family will receive tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home. Jerry Clarke Woods, 19, of Route 1, died Friday at 10:45 p.m. of injuries sustained in a traffic accident. He was a son of Jerry Lee Woods and Peggy Ann Giles Woods and a member of Little Memorial Baptist Church. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs.

Sonya Alenta Woods Cook of Cowpens; stepbrother, Brandon Lee Martin of Gaffney; paternal grandfather, Jack Woods of Valejo, paternal stepgrandmother, Mrs. Peggy Woods of Valejo, maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Margie Runyon of Ohio; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hampton Giles of Gaffney.

Services were held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Revs. Bobby Earls and Jeff Jones with burial in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Terry Lynn, Mike and Ricky Martin, Chris McSwain, Donnie Davis, Doug Splawn and Billy Cook. Jerry Clarke Woods John Ratliff Jr.

John Ratliff Jr. died Satur- day, May 30, 1987, at 5 p.m. in Anderson, Ind. Surviving are his wife, Lucille, and two children, all of Anderson, three sisters Mrs. Ada Wilson of Gaffney, Mrs.

Elsie Baker and Mrs. Allie Brewer, both of Anderson, Ind. Arrangements are incomplete. Family will receive friends locally at the home of Mrs. Ada Wilson, 1485 Third Gaffney, tonight.

William Thomas Broome BUFFALO William Tho- mas Broome, 58, husband of Beth Smith Broome, of Route 1, died Saturday, May 30, 1987, in Wallace Thompson Hospital. A son of Mrs. Florence Peeler Broome of Blacksburg and the late L.D. Broome, he attended Buffalo United Methodist Church, was a World War II Navy veteran, was selfemployed as a chemist, senior member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and colorists, member of the Union Elks Lodge, Union Country Club and Fairwood Country Club. Also surviving are three daughters Teresa Gentry of Union, Tania Dockery of the home and Ann Day of Kings Mountain; one son, Jack (Butch) Broome of Kings Mountain; one grandchild.

Services were held today at 5 p.m. at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Revs. Vernon Deese and Jerry Lawson with burial in Union Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Harvey Chumley, Joe Price, Ralph Woodward Horace Burnsed, Harry Phillips, Carl Patrick, Walter Vanderford and Carroll Austin.

Honorary escort were golfers from the Union and Fairwood Country Clubs. Benjamin F. Wylie BLACKSBURG Benjamin Frank Wylie, 87, husband of Virgie Wright Wylie, of Route 1, the Rock Springs Community died Sunday, May 31, 1987, at 11:45 p.m. A native of Cherokee County, he was a son of the late Daniel Wallace and Martha Wylie, a retired farmer and attended the Blacksburg Church of God. Also surviving are three sons Rev.

Aaron Wylie of Kannapolis, N.C., J. Reginald Wylie of Rome, and Jerry F. Wylie of Blacksburg; four daughters Betty Page of Charlotte, Norma Sue Reale of Gettysburg, Deloris Harvey of Blacksburg and Brenda Elmore of Gaffney; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Blacksburg Church of God conducted by Revs.

Marvin Lee and Sidney Tedder with burial in Mountainview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Lee, Alvin, Tony and John Gilbert Wylie, Hubert and Joe Dean Gault and Bobby Page. Body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Wedensday. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.

A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Frances Ferguson Solmon and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pacolet. Surviving are four daughters Sara McKelvey, Doris Bailey and Shirley Millwood, all of Pacolet, Juanita Ayers of Anderson; four sons Lloyd Spencer Billy and Ricky Spencer, all of Pacolet, Robert (Doobie) Spencer of Spartanburg; one sister, Mary Thompson Tillotson of Pacolet; 26 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren. Wilkins, a member of White Plains Baptist Church and a retired employee of Firestone Steel of Spartanburg.

A native of Hickory Grove, he was a son of the late John Kelly and Mary Wilson, a member of Mount Zion AME Zion Church, attended Stooping Pine Methodist Church and was a retired employee of Daniel's Construction Company.

Surviving are two daughters, Lucille Keeter and Helen Arlene Wilson of Gaffney; four sons- McKinley, Clemon C.J., J.W. and Robert Wilson, all of Gaffney; 17 grandchildren, including Betty, Julia, Johnny Ray and Charles Wilson whom she raised; 20 greatgrandchildren. Edwards M.C. Edwards, husband of Mrs. Estelle Littlejohn Edwards, of 1420 Bronx River Bronx, N. died Friday, May 29, 1987, in the Veteran's Medical Center in the Bronx. A native of Gaffney, he was a son of Mrs.

Zola Edwards Jenkins, a veteran of World War II and a member and deacon of Green Acres Baptist Chuch. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Carter of Bronx, N.Y., and Mrs. Loretta E.

Deal of Washington, D.C.; one son, Manuel Carl Edwards of Gaffney; several grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Green Acres Baptist Church.
