John Horace Beauford, 96, of 202 Chelsea Nicole Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 7, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Greenwood, he was first married to the late Nell Purser Beauford and the husband of the late Alma Stewart Beauford and son of the late William David Beauford and Allie Rea Bowie Beauford. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School where he excelled in football and was the oldest surviving member of the 1941 football team. He retired from Milliken and was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg where he was a former youth leader and bus driver. He loved the Lord, his family and his dog He was a retired U.S.

Army World War II veteran receiving a total of 12 medals which included a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Horace ship landed in Normandy, France on the 6th of June, 1944 at Utah Beach on D-Day. Horace assumed his duties with the 86th Blackhawk Division, Company as a .50 caliber machine-gunner on the back of a jeep. He fought in numerous including D-Day, Utah Beach, Battle of the Rhine and Invasion of Palace. He was also an avid Carolina Gamecocks and Atlanta Braves fan and was honored by the Braves as a hometown hero in June of 2019.

Surviving are a son, John H. Beauford, Jr. (Barbara) of Greenwood; two daughters, Robin Beauford Fincher (Steve) of LaGrange, GA and Rene Beauford of the home; six grandchildren, Susan Beauford, Shannon Kanner (Joey), Sharmin Beauford, Diana Galdieri (Mike), Andrew Powell (Jen) and Melissa Maradik (Brian); ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Beauford, a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Beauford, brothers, Thomas, Curtis and Marvin and sisters, Louise, Dora, Katie and Helen.

The family would like to extend special thanks to his friends and caregivers, Anthony McNeil, Karen Dolumba and Jennifer McAbee. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at First Baptist North Spartanburg. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 4 p.m.

at the Church with Dr. Michael S. Hamlet, Reverend Scott Cannon and Mrs. Emily Staggs officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park.

Joann Marler Lowery, 84, died Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Hospice at Wendover.

A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Estelle McSwain Marler. Joann was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and retired from FASCO after 35 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband or 49 years, Homer Rome Lowery; sister, Carol Ann Marler; granddaughter, Janice Jones; and great grandson, Michael Self. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Self and husband Gary of Shelby; sons, Glen Melton and wife Denise of Shelby, Jimmy Melton of Lawndale, Stan Lowery and wife Julie, and Tim Lowery, both of Shelby; brothers, Ed Marler and wife Nancy of Boiling Springs, Robert Harris of Gaffney and Mike Marler and wife Susan of GA; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. A visitation will be held 3-4pm, Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

A graveside service will follow at 4:30 p.m., in Sunset Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Wood officiating. Randall Eugene Spencer, 68, of 3704 Union Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at his residence. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Helen Lucille Cooper Spencer and son of the late Forrest Eugene Spencer and Annie Adair Spencer. He was formerly employed by American Fast Print, loved his family, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Jonnie Lynn Bell of Moore; two grandchildren, Hannah Nevaeh Bell and Jackson Bell; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ann Dimsdale. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020 in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Tim Osment officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.

Clarice Blackwell Boiling Springs Clarice Blackwell, 82, passed away on Monday September 7, 2020 in Spartanburg. Born in Spartanburg, she was the widow of Harold Blackwell and daughter of the late Ned and Tirzah High.

Mrs. Blackwell was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg and retired from Food Service. Surviving Mrs. Blackwell are two sons; William and Robert Bridgeman of Boiling Springs, one daughter, Susan Simmons and husband, Rob of Boiling Springs, one sister, Diane Lamb of Gastonia NC, three Grandsons; Nick Bridgeman and wife, Kristin; Dylan Bridgeman and wife Autumn, and Chad Simmons, one granddaughter; Anna Bridgeman and two great grandchildren; Kimber and Colton Bridgeman. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 2 p.m.

until 3 p.m. at Good Shepard Memorial Park in Boiling Springs. Funeral Services will follow at 3pm with Rev. Nick Bridgeman and Rev. Clint Starnes officiating.

James Charles Hill, 81, of Kings Mountain, NC, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 surrounded by family at his home. Born in Bessemer City, NC, J. C. was the son of the late Ada (Shubert) and James Garnett Hill. He was also preceded in death by sisters Sylvia Morgan (Bessemer City, NC) and Betty Koonce (Bessemer City, NC), brother Rodger Hill (Kings Mountain, NC) and son Michael Hill (Lincolnton, NC).

After serving as an airplane mechanic in the United States Air Force, J. C. started work as an equipment technician for Western Electric, retiring 38 years later from Lucent Technologies. He had a passion for quietly serving others through his giving to non-profits such as World Vision and St and by working behind the scenes as the sound technician and in other roles at church. J.C.

was a loyal friend and devoted husband, father, brother and Papa. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth (Liz) Brown Hill of the home; stepsons, Tracy Bolin and wife, Kim (Kings Mountain, NC) and Kevin Bolin and wife, Pat (Kings Mountain, NC) sisters, Vivian Landers (Kings Mountain, NC); Cynthia McMillan and husband, Wayne (Bessemer City, NC); brothers, Ronnie Hill and wife, Evelyn (McCoy, TX); Howard Hill and wife, Deborah (Lincolnton, NC); grandchildren, Brett Bolin, Grace Bolin and Lillie Bolin; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Eastside Baptist Church (308 York Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086). A Celebration of Life will follow at 12 noon at the Church with Reverend Ron Caulder officiating.
